TO THE KDITOR. " Sir, —You have had numerous suggestions » the Hocken library from the leading tften of cur City. Will you allow a woman lo offer one? It seems to me that an appeal for subscriptions towards a building to house even such a valuable collection as Dr Bockcn's would not appeal to the mass of working people, but just to the richer few who understand the value of the collection better. My suggestion is to build a beautiful entrance hall to the new Art Gallery and Early Settlers' Building, and off thiß hall provide fox. a room for the Hocken library, "the hall to be called the Seddon Hall. A memorial to keep green the memory of the .man who did so much for our colony would appeal to many who would not be moved by an appeal for a building for a library. After the general public had sent tbeir subscriptions, say to your paper, then our richer citi/wns could subscribe for the upkeep of the library.—l am, etc., A Loves of Our Fair City. July 23.
