John Gott, Bishop of Truro, is dead, aged seventy-six years. Mr Russell Sage, the New York millionaire, is dead, aged ninety years. [The late Mr Sage had the reputation; of being one of the meanest men in. America. His name is not associated with any greatacts of beneficence. On oife occasion, when' a desperate man threw a bomb at Sage, the latter ftang himself behind his clerk. escaped, but the clerk was badly mangled, and had to sue bis employer in order to obtain adequate compensation. Sage, like many millionaires, started life on a farm, and graduated from a grocerv store. He was simply an operator on the market and a capitalist who used his wits. His life was devoted to company management and his office.] Sigananda, the famous Zulu chief, whose rebellion against tho Natal Government was conducted with the old-time fire of his race, though not so successfully, is dead. Sigananda is said to have been 104 years old. He was recently capturod with his sons and chiefs, and held prisoner by the authorities, who, in the last days of June, found him guilty of rebellion. Lieutenant-general Baron Gentaro Kodama, a Samurai of the Chenshu clan. Chief of Staff of Field-marshal Oyama in the Russia-Japanese War, .died suddenly, aoed fifty-one years. °
