[The actual jiberal ;najority, as a result of the January elections, over Unionists, Nationalists, aid Laborites, was 113. The Opposition therefore consist mainly oi Unionists and Nationalists.] AN AUSTRALIAN NAVY. LONDON, July 19. Replying to Mr J. B. Lonsdale (the Unionist member lor Armagh), Sir H. Campbell-Bannernian said that he was aware a section of Australian opinion favored a local navy, but there was no reason to believe that that was the general opinion. If the Commonwealth decided to establish a local foroe he hoped that it would take British advice respecting its constituiion. JUVENILE SMOKING. LONDON, July 19. The Select Committee appointed in connection with the Juvenile Smoking Bill advise the prohibition cf the sale of tobacco or cigarettes to children under sixteen years of age. The Committee are unanimous in the opinion that tlie habit of smoking is causing a deterioration in boys' physique and inducing diseases from which girls are entirely frc:. Dalziel, and other Radicals regarding the exposure of Bumbaata's head, Mr Winston" Churchill rubbed off his score against Lord Kitchener by saying that the events in Natal were not half eo disgraceful to civilisation as the treatment of ;tho Mahdi's body was. The 'Daily Chronicle' (G) and the 'Westminster Gazette' (G) deplore Mr Churchill's methods.
