The stranding of the Rose Casey was referred to at the InvercargiH Borough Council's meeting last evening. Cr J. Allan thought that it should be emphasised in the Press that the steamer tried to enter by tho old channel. He had seen a letter in which the writer said he would not allow his schooner to come to InvercargiU because the bar was upset. As a matter of fact, the channel was now much better than it had been for some time. The Rose Casey had to t<ike tho old channel on account of the heavy weather, and could have come in very well except for the weather. The new channel was a good one, and the Invercargill had been through it several times lately.
