Hest bollocks brought from £lO to £ll £«, extra to £l4 2s 6d; said best heifers from £6 10s to £B. When the Hon. Mr Mills was in Dunedin recently a deputation -waited upon him with reference to the rates charged on fruit carried on the railways. Mr MjDb referred the matter to the Acting JCnister of Railways, who has replied that he is unable to accede to tka request for a reduction in the charges. The exports from Timaru during tite six months ended Jnne 30 included 670,450 carcasses of frozen mutton, being 12,845 in excess of the number despatched dnristg any previoHS haM-year.
