■ —♦ The annual meeting of the Roval Hnmarw bociety of New Zealand was held at Cfarist.U,rCr afternoon. The financial statement for the year presented a- favorable view of the posi-' tion of the society, tho balance to the good being an increasing cne, thocch tbe paucity of subscribing members was much to be regretted. A very strong .tffort had been made to get .subscriptions in the North Island, but small results had been achieved, tho North Island having only contributed a sum under £lO. A balance-sheet was also submitted showing that the i>coeipts from ail sources for the year (including the balance brought forward from the previous year) amounted to £447 8s 2d, and the expenditure to £244 2s 4d, leaving a balance of. £203 5s lOd. , The report and balance-' sheet were adopted. It was also reported that at a meeting : of the court of directors prior to tho annua] meeting the following awards for b*aveiy had been bestowed :—A letter of comment dation to Patai Kaimoana, of Wairoca. Hawke's Bay, aged thirty-three, for weening William Crarer, aged seven, fromdrownlns*™°?- December 12 > 1905. A certificaio to Philip Warden Dwyer, aged fourteen/ for rescuing Jane Darrugh. aged twelve, and .Samuel Darragh,, aged three, from drowning at Riccarton • Racecourse on 26fli December, 1905. A framed ceruficat© to John Wl>eeler, aged ten, for attempting to rescue Reginald Keegan, aged thirteen, from drowning at Te Kopuru on the 11th January, 1906. An :n memoriani certificate to the next of kin of George Allison Ellis, j aged twenty-one, for attempting to res-Hui ' Ernest P. Lake from drowning at LyelL Bay, Wellington, on 3rd December, 1905. A srilver medal to Louis Hansen, aged twenty, who went with Ellis to tbe rescue of Lake. A certificate to Wilfred Morpeth, who also swam oat to render a«istance to Lake and Ellis. A letter of commendation to William Haydon, aged thirty-seven, for resacing Jack Curtis, aged sixty, from drpwning at Wellington, Uth December, 1905. A bronac medal to David Wall Duff, aged thirty-two, for rescuing Leonard Slight, aged fourteen, from drowning at Port Awanui on 13th December, 1905. A certificate to Frederick OctaviusGoodson } agedtwentymne, for attempting ■ to rescue Patrick Brady, aged twenty-seven, from suffocation di Rotorua on 19th February, 1906. A certificate to AJMer Gordon Saunderson, aged sixteen, for rescuing Nellie Eliza Hunt,, aged nine, from drowning at Aehburton on 25th January, 1906. A certificate to Francis Stallard, aged about fifty-nine, for rescuing Violet Glasgow, aged twelve, and Margaret Glasgow, aged seven, from drowning at Collin gwood on 27th December, 1905. A letter of commendation to James Henry Dunn, aged 34, for rescuing Luthei Langyad, aged forty, from drowning at Lyttelton on 23rd March, 1906. A certificate, to Connal M'Laughlan, aged twentyseven, for rescuing Hubert Shuckbercb Gollyn», aged twenty-four, from drowning at Kaikoura on 24th December, 190.3. A framed certificate to ( Leslie Cotton for saving life at Nekon. In the case of Joseph Fred, Hogson, aged fifteen, for rescuing lid ward Henry, aged sixteen, from drowning at Taylor's Mistake, between Sumner and Lyttelton, on December 18, 1905, il was decided not to make any award.'
