RIFLE SHOOTING.
GOLDFIELDS CHALLENGE SHIELD. Our Cromwell correspondent writes that the Goldfields Challenge Shield was fired for on Saturday morning by teams from Queenstown, Arrow, Cromwell, and Alexandra Rifle®, and was won by the Cromwell team by 5 points. This is the second year the Cromwell team have won it, and if successful next year at Queenstown it becomes the property of the Cromwell corps. Up to the 600 yds range Queenstown led by 4 points, but at the major distance the good work put in by Messrs Chris. Thomas and Denny Cahill made victory certain for Cromwell.
