[Special to .the Star.] CHRISTCHURGH, March 19. Certain Christchurch cricket pavilionsdirring the.last week or more have been visited by a. sneak thief. On one occasion he actually had the nerve, in order! to avoid discovery, to pot back a gold watch filched ten minutes before. On Saturday afternoon' a player named Twynham left £1 12s in his coat pocket, hanging the garment up hi the iSavihon att Lancaster Park. The money was missed' during the afternoon, and inquiries led to the arrest of a third-grade player named L. Ogden. A search disclosed the missing coins, and the accused admitted the theft. He was taken to the police station. A table prepared by the Premier for his Geraldine speech showed the areas available in different districts for educational and charitable aid endowments. The net gain up to March 31, 1905, was £60,930. The Lagmhor Estate, on the Ashburton River, containing 17,700 acres, was under negotiation.
