G. B. Mcholls says he did not infer that because he was away in the Taieri, therefore the Dunedin poll was lost. Par from it; bat the Temperance party could have ■won Dunedin had they tried. The point is this: Mr Nicholls naturally goes -where the most important fight is. In the present case this was Taieri, and he worked there for ten days, and with the assistance of Mr Win. Thomson, who kindly came out and spoke against tie Temperance platform at Mosgiel (thereby assisting that party greatly, as the vote shows), they managed to get all their men home. The other party there refused a most generous compromise, as, even when Mr Snow declined to retire, we offered to let him in, and stick to the proposed arrangement. J. C. Anderson complains that for three evenings in succession the car immediately following the trailer on the Castle street Ene has had its gate closed, leaving the four front seas unpccupiedj while passengers bad to stand on the platform behind.
