ASSISTANCE WANTED AFTER ALL, CHRISTCHURCH, Alarch 16. The Premier has received word tiial- the Japanese famine affects a larger area th in was previously imagined, and that the Japanese Government will be glad now Co accept any assistance offered. Tire previous offer for assistance was routed on the understanding that it was not necessary. The High Commissioner cables that a Mansion House fund has already been started. Air Seddon has also received word from the French Government that New Zealand’s offer for the Tutanekai bo assist in provisioning Tahiti after the hurricane was not necessary, though the offer was warmly appreciated.
