NEW ZEALAND DRUG COMPANY. The report of the directors of the New Zealand Drug Company states that, the net profit for the year ended 31st January last was £15,064 9s 3d. An interim dividend of £6,850 10s 8d was paid for the half-year ended July 31 last. The directors have an amount of £24,106 7s 5d to deal with, out of which they propose to pay a dividend (at the rate of 7 per cent, per annum) of £6,900 11s for the half-year ended January 31; to transfer to reserve account (indnsive of £175 Is 4d, premiums on the recent issue of shares), £9,175 16s 9d; to transfer to depreciation on buildings (making the amount £7,000), £205 5s 6d; leaving a balance to be earned forward to next year of £7,825 14s 2d. HIDE SALE. Alcasrb A. Morlb.son and Co. report as follows : —-Wo held our fortnightly sal© of hides at our stores, comer Crawford and Cumberland streets, yesterday, -when we offered a catalogue of 200 hides. The usual attendance of buyers was present, competition was good, and prices as compared with tho previous Kile were firmer, with the exception of cut and damaged hi dm, which showed a slight decline. W© passed a few lines of light hides, and disposed of same from gd to -jd above prices offered at the sale. Our top prices were as follow :—1 ox, 701b, 6gd; ox, 681b, 6|d; 52 cows, averaging 381b, s|d; 15 cows, averaging 491b, 5/d; 11 cows, averaging 431b, 5J,d". We quote : Extra prime ox (stout) 6j|d to 7d, extra heavy (goed) s|d to medium 5 4 d to sgd, light 5Ad to s|d, extra heavy cows sid to SM, light s£d to sgd, yearlings 4Jd tn 5d per lb, calfskins (good) 3s 9d to 4s 6d, email 2s 4d to 3s Sd, horse hides 7s 6d to 3s. PROPERTY SALE. Alcssrs James Samson and Co. held a verv successful sale by auction at their rooms to-day. There was a very large attendance of mining men and property buyers, and bidding was keen throughout. The first lot offered was the Unity Geld Dredging Company’s (in liquidation) steam dredge, with two boats, tools, and all appliances, as she now lies on the company’s claim, Moiynenx River, Clyde. Bidding started at £2OO, and after keen competition advanced by £2O bids to £445, "at which figure Air James Sligo became the purchaser. For lot 2 Air James A. Wright’s property, Crown street, Glenroy, North-east Valley, section 40 x IGO, with square dwelling of four rooms, etc., bidding started at £250, and advanced to £297 10s, at which figure Air Bmgh (as agent) became the purchaser. For lot 3, a comfortable up-to-date verandah dwelling of fonr rooms, with bathroom and every convenience, erected on section 37, block 3. Crown street, Glenroy, Northeast Valiev, the property cf Air Harold King, bidding started at £270, and after reaching £355 Airs Elizabeth Elmore became the purchaser. In the estate .of Peter Dawson (deceased), all that parcel of land containing lx 38p, being sections 6 and 7, township ol Wcodend, with dwelling thereon, was sold to Alichael Coleman at a satisfactory figure.
