SAILORS' REST.

The Choral Hall wis 'well ..filled laefc' night, wlien a conversazione was held to oelebrate the nineteenth anniversary of the establishment of Oi Sailors' Rest in Duoedin, a work undertaken by the Women's Christian Temperance Union, whose president (Mrs Don) occupied the chair. Begg reviewed the work of the W.C.TJJ. in connection with the Sailors' Rest, and mentioned that done successively by Mrs Boot, Miss Glasgow ; Mrs Begg, Mrs Pearpan, and Mrs Dick in collecting funds for it. Mr Begg mentioned that the donation of- £2O by the Harbor Board 1 was likely to be continued' annually. He particularly eulogised the work of "Mr A. R. Falconer, the seamen's mi/jsdoiiary, and subsequently Mr Axelsen suggested' that Mr Falconer should bo provided with £IOO a year at least from, which to give assistance in necessitous cases. Shoot- addresses were aleo (riven by Mr Falconer, Mrs Bkur, and Mrs Don, tire, latter lady eulogising the work dom> in the interests of seamen by Mts Hercus, sen.
