APPOINTMENT OF TEACHERS.
THE PREMIER TAKES A STAND. WELLINGTON, March 15. Mr _ Field, M.H.R., speaking at' Levin last night, suggested that there was a flaw in the Education Act of last session. By it education boards were justified in their action with regard to the appointment of teachers. He said it was not clear that'it was obligatory on the part of the boards that they should submit six names to committees, and that both the Wellington and Wanganui Boards Avere making appointments under the old syxbem. The Premier interjected : "As Minister of Education I shall refrain from allowing salaries to be*paid in the case of any appointments so made."
