SHOP LIFTING.
WELLINGTON, February 1. Three married women were charged at the Magistrate’s Court this morning with, shop-lifting at Kirkcaldie’s sale. The police said that they were respectable people. Mr Kirkcaldio, in giving evidence, mentioned that the firm lost a lot by pilfering, but he did not wish to press the charges in the present cases. The magistrate warned the women, and convicted and discharged them.
