CORRESPONDENCE
THE CITY GASWORKS. TO THIS EDITOB
Sir,—l was much interested in your leading article of the 13th inst. The unsatisfactory condition of your gasworks is due to their having been starved, and whenever the recommendations mentioned in my report to the Council are carried out, or possibly a less costly scheme, now that you are* also having electric light, not only will the saving pay interest on capital spent, but* a profit for the ratepayers as well. The longer the matter is delayed the more money will have to be spent, as well as the loss of profit that would accrue from the improvements.—l am, etc., . Ceenbbt Suggate, A.M. Inst,. C.E.
