VETERANS’ HOME FUND

The complete programme, which has already been announced, of the fete in aid of the Veterans’ Home Fund on Wednesday bids fair to draw one of the largest crowds ever seen on the ground. Arrangements have been made to get out all available tramcars and run them to a point near the gates. The Railway Department, by delaying thi Palmerston train till six o’clock and arranging for the 4.20 p.m. South train to pick up passengers at Kensington, has made it easy for the country people to witness this unique demonstration. As far as the display is co ire,;) d. ;. more attractive, unique, and complete alu-rnoon's entertainment has probably never been presented to the public of Dunedin. The school cadets, mustering over 1,000 strong, will be present. The Maoris will make the occasion their official farewell to His Excellency. The part to be played by the members of Mr Williamson’s Opera Company will be the great feature of the demonstration. A band composed of some of the best musicians in town has been organised bv Herr Paul Spnderhof. His Excellency the Governor will arrive at the ground at two o’clock, and remain throughout the afternoon.
