THE NEED OF A GRECHE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In your issue of the 7th iuat. this advertisement met my eye: “ Wanted, someone to adopt boy 4 months old ; premium, £3O. ‘Eveline,’ Post Office. Dunedin.” Is it possible that anyone able to afford such a sum would be willing to part with her infant? Then, look at the danger of such a bribe; it makes my heart ache to think what may be the possible fate of such a child. Surely it is quite time there was some properly-organised institution into which such an infant might be received, where a rigid oversight by Government inspection and visiting committee of practical mothers would ensure at least a measure of security and justice to such forsaken little ones. I am sorry to say that this is not an isolated case as pimilar advertisements appear frequently.—l am, etc., Anxious Mother. April 8.
