THE GARDENS ROUTE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —"Common Sense" inquires if only a, single line be taken through the Gardens hew is the speed or usefulness of the Castle street line to be increased? Those who travel on the Cast'e street route eee plaimy what is the cause of delays and what would obviate them. The delays are due to the roundabout way the cars take, and especially the loss of time at Howe street. The cars slow down at the junction of Howe and George streets; they stop at king street, and slow down again at the coiner of Howe and Castle streets. If there was a scraight run through the Gardens the distance would be much less, the delays would be a thing of the past, and the service would necessarily be made a quicker and more useful one. Those who know anything of the Castle street route are aware of the fact that a car is often delayed at the Albany street loop waiting for the car from Howe street, and when you reach George street a car is warring there. In addition to the convenience to passengers, we must conrider the extra mileage that the cars run eveiy day on the present route, and the saving of time and expense that would result from a change of route.— I am, etc., "Obskkver. .
