BAD WEATHER IN THE NORTH.
NAPIER, April 7. Very heavy rain fell yesterday and last night inland, causing a heavy flood in ohe Tutaekuri River. The bank a't Meanee gave way, and a large area of country has been submerged by the flood waters.
PALMERSTON NORTH, April 7. A heavy easterly gale, prevailing all day yesterday, developed during the night into hurricane velocity, accompanied by driving showers of rain Considerable damage is reported, chimneys, sheds, fences, and haystacks having been blown down in all directions, trees uprooted, and the windows of private and business premises blown in It is still blowing a fresh breeze from the same quarter.
BLENHEIM, April 7. Bitterly cold southerly weather ia beine experienced . There was a heavy snowfall on the ranges.
HAWERA, April 7. Heavy ram last night caused a s]ip at the Manjrratu cutting, north of Manntahi, which Koeked the railway line. The morning train from Hawera could not get through, and the early, morning tram from Wanganni was cancelled. Nearly two inches of rain fell in Hawera in the twentyfour hours preceding noon to-day.
