YACHTING.

[By Staysail.] Yachtsmen will remember the season of ISO 4 as one of the most successful and enjoyable for many a year in Duuedin Earoor. The holidays just over have been really enjoyable—fine weather, bright moonteht and just enough wind to allow the boats’ crews to go where they wished. Monday’s run was just enough to show the various crows what a vast difference there would have been if the veather had been wet right through the holidays. Monday night saw quite a fleet of all descriptions making for homo, the Adelaide ln i-o ho m lead CO ™ E S up the Old channel, while Tlusth led the way up the Victoria Channel, closely followed by the Madge with the aid of sweeps. She had a lareo contingent of lady campers on board, some thirty all to!d,_ and bore traces of having had a most enjoyable outing. Broad Bay, as well as tbc Heads, had a record attendance of camping parties; in fact, Macandrsw Bay is now having a fair share, some two or three yachts’' crews having their respective cribs there. Commodore Raphael and Messrs Beamland and Lorimcr (Christchurch Sailing Club) paid a short visit to Dunedin during the holidays. Commodore Raphael was met and welcomed to Dunedin by members of the O.Y.C. Executive; and Messrs Beamland and Lorimer paid a visit to the camp at the Kail?, whore a pleasant Jay was spent. The yachtsmen that went to the Kaik for the holidays had a real good time of it. and are looking forward to another such trip next season. There was not the number of O.Y.C. boats that one would naturally expect to sec at a turnout of this description. Probably the fact that the wind was south-west on Friday—a fair wind, ty tbc way—stopped some of the boat owners from venturing below the islands. Surely if a tiny craft like the Mildura could make the journey, there was nothing to prevent the Broad Bay fleet paying a visit.
