FREEHOLD V. LEASEHOLD.
FARMERS’ UNION PICNIC.
MARION, April 6. The Farmers’ Union picnic, held under the auspices of the Marion branch, brought together a great gathering of people at Westoe yesterday. The neighboring branches of the union assisted in making the affair a great success. Addresses were given by Messrs W. J. B'rch (chairman of the Marten branch), J. G. Wilson (president of the Union), Mr Remington (member for Rangitikei), Mr Vile (member for Manawatu), and Mr Willis (member for Wanganui). AH the speakers but Mr Willis strongly supported the freehold question. The member for Wanganui defended the leasehold, and Mr J. G. Wilson replied on behalf of the freehold, pointing out that Mr Willis himself was a freeholder.
