[Faoa Otte Owk CoRaESPOUDBnr.} ■ .- OAMARU, April 4. The annual Conference of the Church of Christ was continued on Saturday, and concluded in the evening. It was resolved to set up a Foreign Missions Committee, consisting of Messrs Mahan, Arnold, Glaister, and Wright, and to endeavor to arrange for the despatch of one or two workers to Lidia within the next year, and to give some help to Mr Sheriff's mission to the Kaffirs. Over £4O was promised at the meeting, and it was announced that two young men were in readiness to proceed to India. A motion was passed directing the Executive to consider and submit to the next Conference a basis of doctrine and polity for a union of the various assemblies of Christians practising the ordinance of believers' baptism, and declaring that the Conference will cordially approve of any movement that will bring such assemblies into closer relations. The thanks of the Conference were extended to the churches at Dunedin, Mataura, and Invercargill for their hearty co-operation in the Gore mission. It was decided to hold next year's Conference in Dunedin, and the new Committee were elected as follows: President, Mr J. Stokes; vice-president, Mr W. Renwick; secretary, Mr M. Glaister; assistant secretary, Mr S. J. Mathison; treasurer, Mr J. Routledge; associate members, Mr H. Mahan and Captain Sundstrum. The Minister of Lands, who is on a visit to his constituents, has informed Colonel Headland that the Government will give a grant of £I,OOO towards the new Volunteer Drill Hall.
