CASUALTIES.
Rachel Marv Downes, aged four years and two months, died at her parents’ residence at Sawyers Bay at eleven o’clock yesterday from injuries to lyr face and hands through being burnt ten Jays since. Since the accident the child hud been attended bv Dr Borne.
A Lawrence message advises that John Francis Fear, aged twenty-three years, was found dead this morning at Tuapeka Fiat from the effects of a gunshot wound in the chest when out shooting rabbits. Although the cause of death may have been accidental, circumstances point to possible suicide. The coroner has been, informed, and an inquest will be bold to-morrow. Joseph Karerai, a Maori lad, who was accidentally shot with a pea rifle at flic Heads a week or two ago, died at the hospital at twenty minutes past nine this morning.
