There was another presentation at the Hillside Workshops last night This time it was from the employees in the fitting shop, who met to say good-bye to Mr E. H. Freed, who has been promoted to the position of workshops foreman at Napier. Mr J. D. Harris, the manager, on behalf of the employees, congratulated Mr Freed on his promotion, and asked him to accept a marble dock, bearing the following -inscription:—"Presented to Mr E. H. Freed by the employees of the N_Z. Government Railway Workshops, Ihujedin, on the occasion of his promotion to Napier. October 26, 1903." Mre Freed was also presented with a sliver-mounted purse. Mr Freed suitably replied. At the Presbyterian Hall on Monday evening Miss B. Peebles was presented with ai silver tea service and a plaque as a marriage present from the members of the Presbyterian Church Choir. The Rev. D. Button, m making the preoentatioa., spoke highly of the services rendered by Miss Peebles in connection with the choir and other organisations. Mr E. Jones suitably responded on behalf at Miss Peebles. A number of songs and piano solos were rendered during the evening, and refreshments were provided by the ladies.

At battalion parade at Napier to-day Dean HaveQ was decorated with a V.D*. medal for twenty-five years' service as chaplain to the volunteers.
