Application for provisional licenses to sell liquor at the Caledonian games, A. and P. Show, and Southland Racing Club's meeting have been refused by tae Invercargill Licensing Committee. After eight weeks of almost continuous fine weather, a genial warm rain has set in. The crops are looking splendid, and the season is fuQy two months earlier than that of last year. GISBORNE, October 27. There was a large attendance at the A. and P. show to-day. The. entries totalled 840. Mr Carrington's San Remo was adjudged champion thoroughbred entire, and Mr H. N. Watson's Blair Gowrie champion draught. Mr D. Kirkpatrick secured the championship for Lincoln rams, and Mr H. N. Watson for ewes.
