THE WELLINGTON WINTER MEETING. HUTT RACECOURSE, July 18. The weather is beautifully fine, and the condition of the course a great improvement on the first day. The attendance is up to the average. Results:— ONSLOW HANDICAP.—Platypus 1 Ostiak 2, St. Olga 5. All started. Won by a short neck after a great race, with a head between the second and the third horses. Time, Imin 25|sec. Dividends, £lO 15s and £1 9s.
TRIAL PLATE.—Commonwealth 1, Black Squall 2, Lee Enfield 3. Scratched: Clovelly, Linklock, Apprentice, and Rapids. Won by a length and a-half; a similar distance separating the second and third Worses. Time, Imin 17|sec. Dividends, £24 19s 6d and £5 16s 6d.
JULY STEEPLECHASE—Straybird 1, oryphon 2, Pipi 5. Scratched: Nori-west and Marine. The others fell. Gryphon led to within half a mile from home, when tray bird went up and ■won comfortably by five lengths, with twelve between second and third. Time, smin 42|sec. Dividend : Straybird, £7 10s. WINTER OAir’S.—Exmoor 1, Sanfoin 2, J upara 3. All started. Won by half a length, with a length between second and third. Dividends. £4 2s and £2 3s 6d. FINAL HURDLES.—Boko 1, Khaki 2, Mourner 3. Scratched: Haydn. Won by five lengths, with a similar distance between the second and third horses. Time 3min 40sec. Dividends, £24 16s 6d and £5 13s.
