m A property at Anderson Bay, consisting of a four-roomed dwelling and 3 roods 9 poles of land, being part of the estate of the late Mr James Hadden, was sold at auction yesterday by Mr Alex. Harris and Co. for £350. Another property, a leasehold at South Dunedin, was passed in. Owing to the great advance that has taken place in the price of hides, the Federated Boot Manufacturers' Association have advised the retailers that present price-lists are suspended, and that amended pricelists to meet the extra cost in material will be issued immediately. The increase to the consumer will probably be about 15 per cent. This is not cheering news for the heads of families. BANK OF NEW SOUTH WALES. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, May 22. At the half-yearly meeting of the Bank of New South Wales the directors' report stated that the net profits for the half-year had been £115,793, which, with the undinded balance from the last year, gives £131,072 for distribution A dividend at the rate of 10 per cent, absorbs £IOO,OOO. The amount added to the reserve is £15.000, leaving £1,672 to be carried forward. The president, in his address, paid an appreciative tribute to the Victorian Government for their action in connection with the strike. Notwithstanding the effects of the drought, trade continued to be fairly successful, and this augurs well when normal seasons return. The report Was adopted.
