The Hon. Dr Grace, M.L.C., who was operated on on Wednesday by Dr Collins, is still very weak. The steam yacht Valhalla, with Earl Crawford on board, arrived at Papeete, from Valparaiso, on March 31. The yacht goes on to Auckland shortlv.
The Rev. H. L. Blamircs, the newly-ap-pointed Methodist minister at Gore, arrived from the North last evening, and proceeded to his new charge this morning. _ Mr Herbert Baillie, librarian of the Public. Library at Newtown (Wellington), has been promoted to he cataloguing clerk and assistant in the reference library at Wellington, and during Mr Rowe’s absence will act as librarian at the main library. The promotion is well deserved, for Mr Baillio is an authority on library management, and will now have an opportunity of puttiug his knowledge to practical use.
