With a view to securing free admission of Natal goods pending the ratification of the Customs Convention, Natal is reducing transit dues on imports for the Transvaal from 3to 1 per cent. The Cape abolishes transit duty on the 24th inst. The Transvaal Government, after the beginning of June, will cease supplying burghers with rations, implements, and stock on credit. The destitute will be offered employment on public works. The Natal Government propose to borrow four millions to expend on the construction of railways and harbors. They have also introduced a Bill compelling Natalians between the ages of seventeen and fifty to serve in the militia.
