Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. BRISBANE, September 25. A public meeting passed a resolution that in view of the unworkable and oppressive character of the Federal Constitution Queensland petitions be presented to the Federal and Imperial Parliaments praying that Queensland be struck out of the Constitution unless relief is granted to the State from the difficulties which .now surround it. A league was formed to promote the views of the meeting. A deputation presented the resolution to the Premier, whose reply denoted sympathy. He said that he should endeavor to change the representation at the next Federal ©lection. If the next Government and Parliament did not legislate with more regard to State then the attempt would be made to severe the connection.

In the Assembly Mr Plunkett moved that it was advisable to take steps to secede from the Commonwealth. Mr Philp, the Premier, was unable to support the motion in its present form, but was prepared to assist to bring about relief. He still believed in Federation, bat not in the present Government. The debate was adjourned.
