'The Government gunboat Restanrador hoisted the American flag in order to avert suspicion, and approached and shelled Cnidad, in Bolivar, which is held by the Revolutionists. Some fatalities and damage resulted in the foreign quarter. The Venezuela authorities were afterwards compelled to apologise and salute the American flag. THE COLOMBIAN AFFAIR. LONDON, September 25. (Received September 26, at 9 a.m.) The United States cruiser Panther has landed three companies of marines at Panama. [The Panther is a German cruiser, and was last in Haytian waters. Probably the U.S. Ranger is meant.]
