THE TORREY MISSION.

TO TEDS euttob Sir,—l would like to ask through your columns if Dr Torrey (who, it is alleged, is working in earnest for the good of his fellows) intends- leaving the great amount of money collected at his missions in this colony to charitable purposes, such as our hospitals, benevolent institutions, city missions, and societies to aid our poor, or does he intend to take it to his home, as many another has done, and there live in luxury on the money contributed by a great number of ota- poor and middle-class people?— I am, etc., Chabitt. September 26. [Although not in the secrets of the management of Dr Torrey’s mission, we can at least assert that the reverend gentleman will not take a great amount .of money from our colony, and that he will not live in luxurious idleness when he reaches home. Ho is a hard-working Christian minister, honestly trying to do—according to his lights—some little good in the world.—E.l E.S.]
