MR SEDDON’S LONDON SPEECH CRITICISED. At; a meeting of the Canterbury Trades and Labor Council last night Mr Seddou s speech at the New Zealand dinner in London was made the substance of a motion to send a cable to the London Trades Council stating that the condit.on of the affairs of the colonv was not so bright as alleged by Mr SedSon. The discussion was prolonged and bitter, bnt no decision was arrived at, owing to the operation of the time limit. The meeting ended in an uproar. A meeting of the Christchurch Socialist party last night carried a morion ‘‘That this party protest against the misleading statements attributed to the Premier in his speech in London, where he is reported to have said that there was little crime and no poverty in the colony, as according to the Mayor of Christchurch there have been some hundreds of cases assisted in Christchurch during the past week.”
