ENTERTAINMENT.

On Wednesday evening a concert in aid of the Sunday school prize fund of St. Peter’s Church was given in St. Peter’s Schoolroom. Hie hall was filled -with an appreciative audience. The concert, which, was under the supervision of Miss E. Sims, reflected credit on this yonng lady, the items on the programme being both varied and entertaining. Shortly aiter eight o’clock the concert was opened by Master and Miss Hickenbotham playing a pianoforte duet, followed by an illustrated song, ‘The barrin’ o’.the door,’ by Messrs Q. and H. Osmond, F. Mulligan, and C. Julius. Miss N. Douglas gave a recitation, ‘Guilty or Not Guilty?’ the Sunday school scholars the action song ‘Little wives,’ and the Sunday school boys the song ‘ Village minstrels.’ Mr F. Shearsby gave two selected songs, and was vigorously encored. Tambourine drill by the Sunday school scholars was a pleasant break from the previous items, and wap followed by Miss B. Smith giving a selected song. The Sunday school scholars then contributed an action song, ‘The gardeners.’ Miss A. Sims sang ‘Caller herrin’,’ which was given in character. Miss Ti. Leslie played a pianoforte solo in good style, after which Mr D. J. Boucicault’s adaptation (in one act) from Besant and Rice’s work, entitled ‘ My Little Girl,’ was performed under the direction of Mr F. Birkett, the characters being sustained by the following Geoffrey Linford, Mr Fred Birkett; Algernon Barford, Mr D. Campbell; Rev. Green Jones, Mr A. J. Watts; Aunt Green, Miss L. Jarvis; Gladys, Miss Nellie Jarvis. Miss M. Taylor made an efficient accompanist during the evening. At the conclus : on the Rev. Canon Brvan M. King thanked all who had assisted to make the concert a success.
