MINING NEWS.
During January the Talisman Consolidated Gold Mining Company treated 2,846 tons of ore for bullion valued at £3,063. The Mount) Lyell returns for the period from January 5 to February 5 (inclusive) show that 22,964 tons of ore were treated, in addition to 5,923 tons of purchased ore and fluxes, and produced a total of 778 tons of blister conner, yielding copper 770 tons, silver 53,8890z, and gold 1,70407.. As the outcome of the Minister of Mines' visit to Gore an understanding has been arrived at m re-ard to riparian rights. The basis of the arrangement is that the Mafcaura Borough Council shall obtain the requisite permission to construct a tail race at a cost not to exceed £l5O, the cost to be borne equally bv the municipality and the companies interested, and to be afterwards collected from the latter by monthly instalments ; the race, after construction, to be maintained by the companies; in the event of the Waimumu Creek being constituted a watercourse the landowners to waive all claims for damages. The Chariton farmers, on the other hand, have not yet acouiesced in the terms offered by the Mines Department. THE SHARE MARKET. DTTNEDIN EXCHANGE.
