COMMERCIAL.
The fourth Wellington wool sale was held yesterday. There was a good attendance <j;id fair competition. Prices for fine qualities of wool ranged from par to a farthing lower. For other qualities prices were unchanged, and values were well up to the London market. Messrs Nelson Bros, have received the following cable from the C.C. and D. Companv, London:—"Frozen meat market.— There is a decline of £d in best Canterbury mutton. Quotations: Wellington, and North Island, 3£d." THE QUEENSLAND BANK. At a meeting of the Queensland National Bank the Chairman stated that reports from managers of all branches were favorable. There was ample grass and water to carry stations ahead as usnal until the wet season set in. In reference to the possibility of kanaka legislation injuring the sugar industry, all the Bank's advances in this direction were undoubtedly safe. He hinted at the probability of an increased rate of interest. A later message states that tho profits of the Queensland National Bank for the past half-year were over £28,000, and £17,000 was transferred to contingency account.
