SPORTING INTELLIGENCE.
RAYENSBODRNE REGATTA. The final meeting of the Committee ; f the above was held in the boatshed la*t evening, Mr H. E. Moller occupying the chair and some fifty persons being present. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr A. E. Jay for his assistance at the Eavensbourne regatta for the last three or f onr years. It was decided to alter the time of starting the Maiden Fours, which will not start at 3.15 p.m., the Eight-oared Race taking its place on the programme. The Garrison Band will be stationed on the green next to the shed, and afternoon ie>, will be provided. The race for the local cup will take place on the following Saturday, and the O.Y.C.’s handicappers are to handicap the various boats on their past performances. The secretaries (Messrs Blackie and Low) have charge of the shore arrangements. The entries for the Maiden Pours this year constitute a record —the D.A.B.C. have entered two crews, Port Chalmers, Otago, Queen’s Drive, and North End one each, making six contestants in aii. The First Class Yacht Race will provide 3 entries, the Second Class 6, tie Third Class 8 (including the Offspring and Lass, built by MTherson. and the Eileen, by M'Lellan), 20ft Open Boats 7, 16ft Open Boats 5, Yacht Dingey Race 6, Model Yachts 11. while in the swimming class there will be 15. With such numerous entries for the various club races, and the final of the Eight-oared Tournament, visitors to Rarensbourne should have a plentiful hill of fare. As usual, the final of the Otago Yacht Club series will be sailed in conjunction with this regatta. The following were the results of yesterday’s racing at Naseby:—Selling Stakes: Summer Rose (10.0), with The Gunner (9.0) second; dividends) £2 10s and £5 12s. Welter: Pbyrne (8.11); dividend, £2 17s. District Trot: Messenger (15sec) 1, Colac (6sec) 2; dividends, £36 5s and £5 12s. Hack ; Summer Rose ; dividend, £2 3s. District Handicap: Spider (8.7); dividend, £5 12s.
