The Bank of England returns show the stock of gold coin and bullion to be £37,495.000, reserve. £28,011,000; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 54.07 per cent. The notes in circulation total £29,402,000; public deposits, £10.884,000; other deposits £40.758,000; Government securities, £16,683,000; other securities, £25,458,000. Three, months' bills are discounted at 2,( per cent. Consols are quoted at £93 2s 6d.

Quotations for colonial Government stocks are subjoined, compared with those ruling at tho close of last week:

The wheat markets are. quiet but steady. South Australian and Victorian cargoes, September and October shipments, sold at 28s 9d. and a Victorian steamer parcel afloat sold at 26s 3d. The official estimate of the French crop is 37A million quarters. Tin, dull. Spot, £ll3 7s 6d; three months, £lll 10s.
