The export of coal from Westport last week amounted to 10,224 tons 9 cwt, of which the Westport Coal Company exported 8,728 tons 19 cwt and the Westport Cooperative Company 1,496 tons 10 cwt. In the course of a conversation which a member of the Wellington 'Post* staff had with the general manager of the Meat Export Company recently relative to the discrepancy in the prices of North Island and South Island lambs, Mr Sladden stated that although he had known a mob of Canterbury lambs to average 461b frozen weight, the general average weight of lambs from that part of the colony when frozen was only four or five pounds more than that of North Island lambs—say, 361b or 371b. Messr.s Dalgety and Co. have received the following information from their London office, dated 18th inst.:—" Good demand for New Zealand winter rabbitskins at £d lb advance. Prices for other descrip- *'■— are fully maintained."
