CRICKET.
CANTERBURY v. WELLINGTON. When stumps were drawn at Lancaster Park last evening the issue was slightly in favor of the visitors. Canterbury's second innings aelosed for 133. Sixty-two runs had been put on without the loss of a wicket, when a splendid catch by Midland dismissed Wigley. Sims was not long in following his late partner to the. pavilion, and none of the other batsmen made a lengthy stay the wickets falling thus : One for 62, two for 66, three and four for 85, fivo for 88, six for 89, seven for 93, eight for 114, nine for 121, and the innings clo»ed for 133. With just under an hour to play, Wellington started the tatk of making the 135 runs required to win. Wcyboume and Duncan were the first pair, but after making 5 runs the latter was Caught by Sims, and made way for Midiane. The score was raised to 42 without further disaster at the call of time. The Northerners thus require 93 runs to win, and have nine wickets in hand. Scores:— Canterbury.
