ANNUAL PICNIC.

The employes of Messrs Cossens and Black held their annual picnic at Evarisdale on Saturday. A train left the Dunedin station at five minutes past nine o"clock, and conveyed a partv of between 400 and 500 to the grounds. The railway arrangements were excellent, and no accident of any kind occurred. The Port Chalmers Brass Band were present, and enlivened the proceedings throughout the day. Mr Rogen gave every assistance to the party, and a committee of management ably supported him in his efforts to make, the picnickers enjoy the outing. The number of prizes was far in excess of thosa of any previous year. The party returned to town shortly before eight o'clock, after spending a very pleasant day, the weather having been all that could be desired. The following are the results of the events :

Single Journeymen's Race.—Howard 1, Miller 2, Moloney 3. Manned Ladies' Race (shop).—Mrs Culline 1 Mrs Wakclin 2, Mrs Baron 3. ' Married Journeymen's Raco (shop).—Lawrence 1, Fitzgerald 2, Stewart 3. Married Ladies' Race (visitors).—Mrs Mason and Mrs M'Kewen (dead heal) 1, Mrs Gibson 3. Single Ladies' Race (over 20).—Miss Daisy Black 1, Miss Anderson 2, Miss Coxon 3.
