The Premier Waikaka report a return of 16oz of amalgam for 151'hours’ work. The Waimumu Extended report a return of 17oz 6dwt for 150 hours’ work. The Gabriel Gully report a return of 9oz 15dwt for 110 hours’ work. The wash is looking well. The Paul’s Beach report a return of 12oz 18dwt for the week; The Inch Valley Company report a return of 15oz 17dwt. The Waikaka Forks dredge has been partially dismantled, with a view to replacing the revolving screen by tail boxes. Time has proved the unwisdom of the use of screens on the class of land in the Waikaka district, and boxes arc now generally adopted all over the field.—‘Mataura Ensign.’ A telegram has been received by the secretary of the Red Jacks Company confirming the purchase of an additional area to their claim. The necessary machinery is nearly all finished, and the screen and elevator have arrived from Sydney. About^O,oooft of timber is on the ground, and the erection of pontoons in about to be commenced. The Equitable Stock Exchange resolved this morning to have no call over on Wednesday next, the day appointed for the reception of the returning troopers. The dredge-master of the Globe Dredging Company reports 7oz LMwt gold for five days days and a-half. The wash is improving in depth and quality as the claim proper is approached. Still opening up, and dredging ground already worked by the Little Waikaka Company. The secretary of the. Gold Queen Company reports that the dredge resumed work on Thursday afternoon, and that the machinery is running very well. Owing to the paddock being silted un there was no wash-up this week, - ‘ The Round Hill Alining Company report a return (for December and part January) of 2570z, value £1,015. The mine has now shut down owing to the scarcity of water. The paddock at time of stopping was about half washed down. The Charlton Creek report a return of 250z for 126 hours’ work.
