FATAL ACCIDENT TO PROFESSOR ULRICH.

An accident of a serious character oo-shortly-after 11a.m. to. Professor Ulrich at Port Chalmers. The professor, in company with his son, wag gathering specimens on Flagstaff Hill, and whilst in the aot of testing a stone he slipped and fell down the hill, a distance of nearly 100 ft. He sustained severe injuries. Having been promptly taken into the office of Gardiner and Co., he was attended to by Dr Borrio, who rendered all possible aid to the aufferer. . Dr Davies went down to the Port by the 12.15 train, and made an examination. Very little hopes are entertained of the professor’s ultimate recovery, the injuries being principally on tho head. The unfortunate affair, whieh will be received with regret alike by tbe public and personal friends, was purely acoidental, and after the first slip almost beyond human prevention. _ , Later.
