CASUALTIES.
An inquxst waa held at Gisborne yesterday on the body of Christopher M‘B;th, discovered in the river the previous day. The evidence showed that money and valuables had not been taken from the man’s pockets, and the suspicions of foul play at first entertained are believed to be foundation less.
WELLINGTON, May 26. George Benson, wharf laborer, aged forty-four, foil down the hold of the steamer Rikaia this morning, a distance of 40ft, and sustained injury to his spine, from which he died.
