A SLY GROG RAID.

.. STRATFORD, January 29. Constables Ryan and Gassidy (of Stratford) and Kidd (Wanganui) raided the premises of P. J. White. Whangamamona, at 5 a.m. yesterday, and seized four dozen bottles of beer, four dozen bottles of porter, eight bottles of whisky, and a. two-gallon demijohn of whisky. Seven informations for sly grog-selling have been laid against White, who is proprietor of one of the lines of coaches plying between Stratford and Whaiigamomona. The cases will be beard on the 6th February. The police made a smart run, leaving Stratford at 8.30 p.m. on Saturday, and returning at 5 p.m. on Sunday. White's place is fifty miles from Stratford via the east route.
