THE RATE AGAIN DISAPPOVED OF. A poll wan taken yesterday on the proposal of the Ocean Reach Domain Board to levy a rate of Jd in the £ to carry out Mr Leslie Reynolds’s scheme for the restoration and protection of the beaoh at St. Clair, The result of the voting was that the proposal was rejected by a majority of 515 votes. The voting at St. Kilda, Caversham, and South Dunedin was in favor of the rate being levied. The following shows the voting in tho City and the various
Tho following informal votes were recorded :—Dunedin 40, South Dunedin 3, Roslyn 9, Caversham 7, Mornington 18, Dlaori Hill 9. When Mr Potre’s proposal was submitted to the ratepayers on October 5 last it was rejected by 258 votes. 9“ that oocas,on plural voting (since abolished) was permitted.
