OLD AGE PENSIONS.
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, November 29. (Received November 29,1898, at 9.55 a.m.i Mr Neald, member for Paddington, who was despatched by the Government to England to inquire into tho question of old age pensions, has presented a voluminous report, which concludes: “ The only satisfactory methods of dealing with tho matter are a free grant by tho State of fixed pensions to all persons of given ago whoso necessities demand relief, excepting those whose physical, mental, and moral condition requires more restrictive measures ; the establishment of a system under which old ago provision may bo made, with the assistance of State compulsory insurance against industrial accidents of employes by employers by or with the State ; improved legislation to enable friendly societies to deal more effectively with questions of sickness and insurance.”
