HOSPITAL TRUSTEES

The ordinary meeting of the Hospital Trustees was held yesterday afternoon, and attended by Messrs P. Miller (chairman), J. Green, 18. S. Myers, W. Wright, H. Clark, and J. N. Brown. The Hou'e Committee reported that the tender of Messrs S. Drew and Go. for cleaning and painting Houghton Ward for £l7 16s had been accepted. During Dr Brown’s absence Dr Liddle had been appointed actting assisting house-surgeon. Tho number of out-patients for the last month was 638 ; for the similar month last year there were 793 —Approved. The Finance Committee reported that accounts amounting to £632 18s 51 had been passed for payment. The receipts for October had been : In-patients, £69 133 61; out-patients,£l2 14s; donations, £4 Is; sale", 19i Id; Russell Trust, £ls ; total, £lO2 7s 7d The receipts for the present month up to date had been £Bl 15 1 9d. There was a credit balance in the bank and in hand of £325 2s 9-L The -Committee recommended that application be made to the Hospital Board for the usual contribution of £450. — Adopted. The Secretary reported the theft of money and a box from the .out-patients’ department.—Tho Trustees spoke in strong terms of tho meanne; s of the theft, but were afraid it would bo impossible to take any action in the matter. Progress payments on account of the children’s ward of £250 to Mr Lyders and £IOO to Messrs A. and T. Burt were approved of on the recommendation of the architect (Mr N. Y. Wales). Dr M’Kellar forwarded a donation of £3 from the Otago section of the New Zealand Medical Association. Received with thanks.
