Drunkenness — Jeannie Knight was fined 10j, and handed over the money almost before the aenteuce was spoken. The City By-laws.— John Jury pleaded guilty to a charge of driving round the corner of Princes and Rattray streets at other than a walking pace, and was fined 2a 61.—Defendant pleaded that he had no means and that he offended in ignorance, being a resident of the country. The Bench thereupon granted a week's grace for payment.

Burying Nioiitsoil —Lawrence Johnson, charged under the by-laws with burying nightsoil in the backyard of his premises in Walker street, pleaded guilty, but said that he had had the stuff removed since.—lnspector Donaldson said that this offensive practice was becoming common throughout the City, and the municipal authorities deemed it necessary to put a stop to it.—The Bench said that the defendant was liable to a fine of £5, but, being a poor man, they would let him off with a fine of 10a, and allow a fortnight in which to pay the fine.
