THE FLYING JORDANS.

These famous acrobats open in Dunedin on Tuesda3' next, tbe 23rd inst., after a highly successful season in the Northern cities. The 'Lyttelton Times,' speaking of their first performance in Christchurch, makes these complimentary remarks :—" It is quite pafe to sav that no combination of the kind which has ever visited New Zealand has approached them. The principal interest centred around the Jordan Family's aerial act, whioh was at once during and graceful. The whole family are seen on trapezes, and Mr Jordan, while hanging head downwards, in turn catches his wife and children as they fly from swinging bars placed at some distanoe from each other, his trapeze being in motion the whole time, and the children, after goii'g through difficult performances on the high trapezes, throw themselves into a net-below. Miss Virginia Aragon is deservedly styled "Queen of the Invisible Wire, for, with nothin? but a Japanese umbrella to balance her, Bhe goss with marvellous ease through a graosful performance on a thin wire at a height of 20ft from the ground. She waltzes, skips, skates, i una backwards and forwards, spins round and round, traverses the wire sideways, then, discarding tho umbrella, she lies at full length on the who j then kneeling upon it she picks up a handkerohief with he* teeth, and, standing up, Bwings and jerks her slender sapport backwards and forwards in a manner that makes the onlooker feel thut she must be shaken off The performance of the Mario Brothers oa the triple horizontal barß was an extremely clever one. After tome difficult and graceful work, one of the brothers throws a double somersault from the first to the third bar, with the centre bar left standing. Olaf Schrader's performance* on an ordinary safety bicycle were of .a class never before seen here, and the manner in which he manages his wheel while in the most extraordinary positions is a perfect marvel. A nice little stage at one end of the tent affords ample accommodation for some very good variety items by Misses St. Clair, Eva Clements, Little Thursday, James the Hadjis, and Darey and Eva Ptanfield. Before the performance commenced Henii Lamont did a sensational dive outside the tent, and it was witnessed bv thouFands of people. He hangs to a trapeze by his tooß, at a height of about 75ft, and, letting himself go, com s straight down until within about 12ft from the net, when he turns and a'ights on his back with the greatest of ease.
